An oil level sight glass is an instrument used to observe the oil level, usually composed of a sight glass body, a sealing gasket and a transparent glass sheet. It observes the liquid level through the principle of light refraction and is widely used in petrochemical, petroleum, chemical, metallurgical and other industries. The function of the oil level sight glass is to help engineers and maintenance personnel regularly check whether the oil level in the tank is within the appropriate range to avoid equipment failure caused by too high or too low oil level.
How full should the oil level observation window be?
The oil level of the oil level observation window should be kept between 5mm above and below the central horizontal line of the sight glass, which is the most ideal oil level range. If the oil level is lower than 1/4 of the sight glass, the lubricating oil should be replenished in time; if the oil level exceeds 5/6 of the sight glass, the refueling operation should be stopped. In addition, in some specific equipment, such as the observation window of the energy storage motor, the maximum oil level should not exceed one-half of the observation window, and the minimum oil level should be visible in the observation window, which is the normal oil level.
